Councillor McCann Meeting Report (May 2, 2017)
Belvedere Heights Monthly Board of Management Meeting
There were a number of items covered during the meeting. Financial Statements for the year ending December 31, 2016 were presented by a KPMG representative and accepted by the board. We also were in receipt of a benchmarking comparative report of municipal homes which looks favourably upon Belvedere Heights in its management. Belvedere is below the mean in most categories compared to 82 other municipal home in Ontario. Life Lease Unit sales have been good. It has been some time since only one unit remains for sale.
Conversation was also focused on tunnel decommissioning, parking and other housekeeping matters.
Belvedere Heights is undertaking a plan to review our current IT (information technology) needs and to put together a strategic plan that we hope will turn Belvedere Heights into a leader in so far as managing the best technology available for our money. We are striking up an ad-hoc committee to review our present infrastructure
including hardware, software, systems management, communication, systems maintenance and web site. The committee will then attempt to identify our needs now and over the next five+ years and put into place a system that will suit what we need in the way of information technology. In putting the committee together, we will be reaching out to the community for individuals experienced and qualified in IT and systems management.
