Councillor McCann Meeting Report (December 19, 2017)
Moose FM / Salvation Army RadioThon
On Thursday morning, December 7th, I participated in the Moose FM / Salvation Army RadioThon. Thank you to all who contributed. Many families will benefit from the tremendous generosity of the people of the Parry Sound Area! It never ceases to amaze me on how generous the people of this area prove to be, throughout the year and especially at this time of year!
Town of Parry Sound Council First 2018 Budget Meeting

Town of Parry Sound Annual Mock Council Student Meeting
On Wednesday, December 13th, I took part in the Town of Parry Sound Annual Mock Council Meeting with students from St. Peter’s School. This is one of my favourite annual events. Congratulations to all the students who had a special opportunity to learn about local government and take part in this mock Council Meeting exercise.

Parry Sound Area Industrial Park Board Monthly Meeting
On Thursday, December 14th, there was to be our regular monthly meeting of the Parry Sound Area Industrial Park Board. However with no new or significant business to tend to, the meeting was cancelled by the Chair. This is not to say that there is no activity. Our financial situation is good. We continue to benefit from revenue generated by the lagoons. We continue to struggle to secure high speed Internet service at the park.
Park to Park Trail Association
The Park to Park Trail Association Annual General Meeting is coming up on Thursday, January 11th, at the Rosseau Community Hall, in Rosseau. The public is invited.
Farewell to Trevor Pinn
I join Council and Staff and the people of Parry Sound in wishing Trevor Pinn all the best in his new position with the Municipality of Clarington. He will be serving as Deputy Treasurer! We have been most fortunate to have Trevor here in Parry Sound. As Mayor McGarvey has stated, Trevor's methodology, approach and experience has gained the attention of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs through his budgetary process. The Ministry is hoping that it can advocate for such a model in other municipalities.
Trevor has made additional positive impacts in his roles as Director of Finance and POA Court Services. Although we hate to see him go, we are happy for Trevor in earning such a wonderful opportunity in Clarington. All the best to Trevor and his growing family!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
At this time I wish to extend to Mr. Mayor, fellow Council Members, Staff and to the people of Parry Sound a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year! Have a safe holiday and remember not to drink and drive. On behalf of my wife and myself best wishes for the Holiday Season!
