Councillor McCann Meeting Report (April 5, 2016)

Belvedere Heights Home for the Aged
Belvedere Heights HomeAlong with Councillor Saulnier, I attended the monthly board meeting of Belvedere Heights.  Belvedere Heights Board has developed a succession plan for the CEO replacement.  Marsha Rivers will be training over the next year for the position.  Marsha Rivers has a wonderful background of experience, initiative, commitment and dedication.  It's as if she has been training for this position for years now.

In a non-profit home such as Belvedere it can be a very daunting task to find a qualified CEO.  In the private sector, a CEO would not need to be versed in everything the way in which our home's must be.  Her background includes nursing, working with the Ministry of Health, supervision in hospitals, successfully completing the Administrators Training Course and a year as Training/QI Coordinator learning and meeting all staff.  She will shadow Donna Dellio, CEO, in this time.  She is currently on staff and so as she steps into this new position, a replacement for her position is being sought.

Board elections were also conducted.

Warning Over Social Media
I was the target of social media scheme a few weeks ago when it was discovered that someone had created a Facebook profile using my name. The individual posted and shared numerous messages I would not have done so myself.   Facebook determined that this account user was not trying to pretend to be me, and I rather suspect their findings were the result of some very shallow investigation possibly by robotically examining imagery and text.  However a closer look would have shown that geography, overlapping of friends and such would have made it clear of the individual's intent.  Fortunately, the police can do something when you have a strong suspect.  I suggest that this plays out into a warning for everyone, but especially for public figures, on just how easy one can be misrepresented.
