Councillor McCann Meeting Report (June 2, 2026)
West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting
On Thursday evening, May 28, 2026 I attended the West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting via Zoom. It was a fairly straight forward meeting in which Treasurer and Financial Reports were received and approved for April, year-to-date and expenditures. We also approved the Financial Statements for the year ending December 31, 2025. This month's policy review covered the Key Holder Policy. No changes were required. We are preparing for our Annual General Meeting and will be announcing details very soon.
Welcome Greg Aldworth
I have had the pleasure of meeting our new Harbour Master, Greg Aldworth. His official title is Marine Facility Security Officer (MFSO). He is knowledgeable and experienced. With his background in television camera work and places he has lived, we had some common ground on which to speak. I wish him all the best.
Perl Mist First Visit In 2026
It was wonderful to see the Perl Mist back in the Sound on its first visit of 2026. Thanks to the remediation of the Town Dock, the cruise boat is now able to dock properly. The next visit by this ship will be this Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Parry Sound's Sully Burrows Nominated for Six Country Music Association of Ontario Awards
Last year Parry Sound's Sully Burrows was one of three finalists in the 2025 SiriusXM Top of the Country championship. While he didn't take the top prize, the event and promotion rendered tremendous exposure for Sully and his music. Also last year, he won the Breakthrough Artist of the Year (also known as Emerging Artist of the Year) at the 2025 Country Music Association of Ontario Awards. His career and popularity have been growing at a face pace. Testament to this popularity Sully lead the way in nominations for the 2026 Country Music Association of Ontario Awards held May 31, 2026. He was nominated for Male Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year each for "Rally Around", also Album/EP of the Year for "Somewhere in a Small Town" and finally Fans’ Choice Award. Sully came away with Music Video of the Year! I wish him all the success. He won't be slowing down anytime soon!
