Councillor McCann Meeting Report (November 1, 2022)
West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting
On Thursday evening, October 25, 2022 the West Parry Sound District Museum Monthly Board Meeting was held. While personal commitments kept me away that evening I can pass along information on what was handled at the meeting. At our last Council Meeting you heard me talk about the Barn Project. Museum staff and volunteers spent October 3rd to October 6th emptying the barn. This included the renting of a storage unit that is currently in the parking lot. Artifacts were moved into the storage unit in order to quarantine them prior to bringing them into the Museum. Adam’s Construction donated the dumpster delivery and use. We thank Adam’s for their generosity! The Museum has established a Heritage YouTube Chanel. The first YouTube video has been uploaded to the Museum’s channel. This is the first of 12 videos from a series we are calling “From our Collection”. These 12 videos will be released on the second Wednesday of the month. More videos are in the works and the goal is to release a video every week by the end of 2023. Rental bookings have increased dramatically. The increase started in September and has carried on into October. The Museum will be involved with a “Northern Nature Exchange”. Over the year 2021 staff updated the Emergency Response manual. On October 25th all staff, two board members and three volunteers will be participating in an emergency training that will review Emergency Responses, identify responsibilities and run through a salvage scenario.
